Philanthropy

CFAC Portfolio Management is a non-profit organization that works to cure ALS through funding research projects at UBC and advocating for and supporting people living with ALS. In addition to funding ALS research and awareness projects, CFAC Portfolio Management operates on a unique 'students funding students' model, where UBC students manage the portfolio, gaining practical experience while supporting a meaningful cause. A portion of the portfolio's returns is distributed to ALS research, functioning similarly to an endowment fund, ensuring sustainable financial support for advancing ALS research and advocacy.

Our Commitment

CFAC Portfolio Management, a UBC student-run investment fund, is honored to have received the 2023 ALS Society of BC Leader of Tomorrow Award. This recognition highlights our commitment to raising funds and awareness for ALS research through PROJECT HOPE, a cause deeply significant to our members. In 2023, our team of 37 students collectively raised $3,563.00, contributing to our goal of $10,000 for PROJECT HOPE. Beyond fundraising, we actively promote ALS awareness within the UBC community through events and social media, while providing our members with practical experience in capital markets. This award inspires us to continue our mission with even greater determination, knowing that our collective action can make a difference.
